A one week trip to Iran in
April/May 2015 to teach Islamic Geometric Design to Iranian audiences.
About this Project :
Islamic geometric design is a very important part of the Islamic artistic heritage of Iran. Some of the most beautiful geometric compositions in art an architecture were created in Iran. It is important for Iranian designers and students to know how to create the geometric patterns they can see all around them and across their country. It is part of their heritage but for this design tradition to remain relevant and vibrant to a new generation, designers and students have to master it; they have to make it their own. I will spend one week in Iran in April or May 2015 offering lectures and workshops, both will have an historical component and the workshops will also have a practical component. Friends at the Isfahan House of Mathematics and at the University of Islamic Art in Tabriz will help me organize my trip,
